Ingredients

  • ½ c butter
  • 2 c sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c milk
  • 2 c flour
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 4 squares melted chocolate
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Cream butter, add 1/2 of sugar gradually.
  • Beat egg yolks, cream in remaining sugar.
  • Combine both mixtures and add melted chocolate.
  • Beat thoroughly.
  • Sift dry ingredients together and alternate with milk, adding to first mixture. Add vanilla.
  • Beat egg whites stuff and dry with wire whip. Fold carefully into first mixture.
  • Cook at 350° for 20-25 minutes in 3 9" cake pans.
