Ingredients

  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 yolk
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 1 c sour milk
  • 1 c strawberry jam, or other flavor
  • c soft wheat flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¾ c butter

Instructions

  • Break eggs and beat.
  • Add sugar, sour milk, and jam. Mix.
  • Add soda, baking powder, and spices to the flour and sift.
  • Add dry ingredients to the egg mixture.
  • Melt butter and mix thoroughly to other ingredients.
  • Pour into 2 9" cake pans.
  • Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes.
