Ingredients
- 1 c sugar
- butter or other shortening about the size of an egg
- 1 egg
- 1 orange
- ¾ c sour milk or buttermilk, milk can be poured with tbsp vinegar
- 2 c flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 c raisins
Instructions
- Cream the shortening and sugar.
- Add egg, sour milk, flour, salt, and soda. Mix well.
- Grind orange rind and raisins, and add to cake batter.
- bake in flat pan about 25 minutes at 350° or 375°.
- Pour the juice of the orange over 1/2 c sugar, and pour this over warm (not hot) cake.
- Serve from baking pan.
- Good with a little whipped cream.
