Ah….the traditional frosted Christmas cookies. Of course this recipe doesn’t have to be used for just Christmas. How about Halloween? Valentine’s Day? The recipe source is listed as Penzeys, which, apparently, is a space company. I don’t know anything about the spice company, but this is one of the recipes that my grandmother used.

Well now I am a little confused. I have two springerle cookie recipes, this one and one called “Mrs. Miller’s Springerle Cookies”. I think this is actually the one that my grandmother used.

This is a very rich cake that requires a can of coconut pecan frosting IN the cake batter! Interesting take.
