Northern Style Lasagna

This lasagna recipe is from Good Housekeeping magazine and has a hint of nutmeg, layered with ground beef and pork, ricotta cheese, and lasagna noodles.

Banana Cake

I am not a huge banana person, but I do love this cake, especially with the brown sugar/caramel icing. This is good as a sheet cake, but could be make with round cake pans and layered.

Saucy Chicken and Rice

This casserole combines chicken, celery, chopped tomato, Velveeta cheese, onion, rice, and basil.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake

I am not sure if this is really intended to be German Chocolate Cake, but the recipe says to “frost tops only” and does not specify what topping.

Mayonnaise Cake

This is a very moist chocolate cake.

Chicken Sesame and Asparagus Salad

I had this recipe at a wedding reception or baby shower, can’t remember which, but it was really good, so I requested the recipe.

Sorghum Cookies

These cookies are soft and chewy. Make sure you do not over cook.

Grits Soufflé

This souffle uses grits, garlic cheese roll (I don’t actually know what that is!), egg, and butter/margarine.

Scotch Krispies

Love this version over the rice crispy treats anyday.

Strawberry Pretzel

This recipe came from my grandmother, who got the recipe from Faye Cox. I don’t know who Faye Cox is, but this is a Jello dessert with several layers. It is probably actually called Strawberry Pretzel Salad. When I first read the title (when transferring recipes here) I thought it was a soft pretzel with strawberry flavor.

Bethany’s Jell-O Salad

Bethany’s Jell-O Salad

We always have this at Thanksgiving. It is one of Bethany’s favorites, so we started calling it Bethany’s salad. It calls for apricot Jell-O, but that is hard to find. If you can’t find apricot, use orange. It also has cream cheese, grated carrots, pineapple, and pecans. This photo is not the best…will try to get a better one later on.

Apricot Gelatin Salad

Apricot Gelatin Salad

This recipe is very similar to Bethany’s salad, but doesn’t have the shredded carrots and has mandarin oranges instead. This has apricot Jell-O, mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, cream cheese, and “Dream Whip”. Is Dream Whip still something you can buy? I have never used it.
