Ingredients
Cake
- ½ c shortening
- 1 ½ c sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp baking soda in 1 c sour milk
- 2 c plus 1 tbsp flour
- 3 c rhubarb, cut fine
- ¼ c colored candy sprinkles, or red food coloring
Topping
- ⅓ c sugar
- ⅓ c nut meats
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream shortening and sugar. Add salt and beat in egg.
- Add baking soda & milk mixture with flour, alternating back and forth between the two.
- Stir in candy sprinkles (or food coloring) and rhubarb.
- Pour into 13"x9" metal cake pan.
- Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over cake batter.
- Bake 45 minutes.
