Soft Gingerbread

Ingredients

  • ¼ c shortening
  • ½ c brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ c molasses
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ c sour milk/sour cream
  • c flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Cream the shortening.
  • Add sugar slowly, creaming all the time.
  • Add the well beaten egg and molasses.
  • Beat until light color.
  • Sift dry ingredients together, including soda.
  • Add them alternately with milk to finish mixture.
  • Beat well and bake at 375° for approximately 25 minutes or until knife come out clean.(There was no baking time with this recipe, so I had to make a guess.)
