Ingredients
- 2 lbs Ground beef
- 1 qt Tomato juice
- 1 can Tomato purée, 29oz
- 1 can Kidney beans, 15oz, drained
- 1 can Pinto beans, 15oz, drained
- 1 medium-large Onion, chopped, about 1.5 cups
- ½ cup Celery, diced
- ¼ cup Green pepper, diced
- ¼ cup Chili powder, or less if that is too much
- 1 tsp Cumin, use more for additional flavor
- 1 ½ tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Black pepper
- ½ tsp Oregano
- ½ tsp Sugar
- ⅛ tsp Cayenne pepper
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain off the fat.
- Put the beef and the remaining ingredients in a 6-quart pot. Cover the pot and let the chili simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes. You can also cook this in a slow cooker on low for 3 to 4 hours.
