Applesauce Date Cake

butter or margarine

hot applesauce

chopped dates

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour a 9"x9" baking pan.
Sift flour and baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
Add eggs, sugar, butter, and 1 c applesauce. Beat at low speed just until ingredients are combined.
At medium speed, beat 2 minutes longer, occasionally scraping sides of bowl and guiding mixture into beater.
Add remaining applesauce, dates, and nuts. Beat 1 additional minute.
Pour into pan and bake for 50 min or until knife comes clean. Let pan cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cake cool.
Frost with cream-cheese frosting.
